On our drive south from Monterey, we stop at San Simeon to tour the Hearst Castle, the immense estate built by William Randolph Hearst and covering more than a quarter million acres of land.
Our group visits Yosemite National Park, nearly 750,000 acres situated in 4 California counties and recognized worldwide for its granite cliffs, waterfalls, clear streams, giant sequoias, lakes, mountains, meadows, glaciers. We will visit Mariposa Grove before we leave the park, the home to more than 500 mature sequoias. With a height of 286 feet or more, many 2,700 years old, these trees are among the largest and oldest organisms on the planet.
